Your Step-by-Step Guide to Completing Your Wisconsin CE
You've purchased your CE credits—great first step! This guide will walk you through exactly what to do next to complete your continuing education requirements and maintain your Wisconsin insurance license.
Already purchased credits? Here's what to do next...
After purchasing credits, you can select which classes to take. Remember, you've purchased a certain number of credits (not specific classes), so you can take any combination of classes that add up to your purchased credits. Use the "+Add" or "+Add to My Classes" buttons on the below linked pages to add classes to your list. This is just a shopping list for you-- you aren't committed to taking them; it's just a place to keep track of classes you might like.
Most agents need 24 total credits, including at least 3 ethics credits. If you need specialized training like Annuity or LTC, make sure to include those in your selections.
Popular options:
Once you've selected your classes, you'll get immediate access to study materials. These are self-paced courses you can complete whenever it's convenient for you.
When you're ready, you take a simple multiple-choice test for each course with a proctor present. A passing score is 70%.
Don't worry if you don't pass on your first try. You can retake tests at no additional charge.
The affidavit must be completed and signed by both you and your proctor. This is a state requirement and cannot be skipped.
Fill out the proctor "affidavit" form linked on the pass page.
Credits are sent to the state on every 5th day, then daily from the 23rd to the end of the month. Submit time is by 10pm on that day. Need it faster? RUSH processing (within 24 hours) is available for $19.99.
Once your tests are processed, your credits will be submitted to the state, and you'll receive confirmation.
Complete your CE credits at least 2 weeks before your license renewal deadline to allow for processing time and avoid any last-minute issues.
Almost anyone can be your proctor as long as they're not a member of your immediate family or have a financial interest in your insurance business, like an employee or a manager. Neighbors, friends, co-workers, or even staff at your local library can serve as proctors.
All Wisconsin insurance agents need 24 credits every two years, with at least 3 in ethics. If you sell specialized products like annuities or long-term care insurance, you may need specific training for those. Our "Help Me Decide" page can guide you. Any agent with any line of licensure can take any class-- no restrictions!
Don't worry! You can retake any test as many times as needed at no additional charge. Simply study the material again and/or retake the test right away with your proctor.
Standard processing follows the above schedule. Need it faster? RUSH processing (within 24 hours) is available for an additional $19.99.
You can check your completed credits and remaining balance at any time through our Account Services page.
