Which Course Do I Need?

First time selling LTC in Wisconsin? → Take the 8-hour or 12-hour course

Already completed initial training before? → Take the 4-hour, 8-hour, or 12-hour course

Want to get more credits done at once? → Take the 12-hour course (most popular choice!)

Note: You can retake any course in a new license period, even if you took it before.

After You Complete LTC Training

  1. Complete the course and pass the test with your proctor present
  2. Fill out the affidavit — I'll submit your CE credits to the state
  3. Receive your diploma by email — This is your proof of completion
  4. Forward your diploma to your LTC carriers or agency — Carriers track compliance, not the State

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the LTC Partnership program?
The Long-Term Care Partnership is a program between states and the federal government that allows people who purchase qualified LTC policies to protect some assets from Medicaid spend-down requirements. Agents selling these policies must complete specific training.
Do I need LTC training if I don't currently sell LTC insurance?
No. LTC training is only required if you sell, solicit, or negotiate Long-Term Care insurance policies. However, if you plan to start selling LTC in the future, you must complete the initial 8-hour training first.
Does LTC training count toward my 24 CE credits?
Yes! LTC Partnership courses count toward your total CE requirement. If you take the 12-hour course, that's half your CE done right there.
What is ClearCert and why does it matter?
ClearCert is a third-party certification that many insurance carriers require. It helps carriers easily verify that agents have completed required training. CEWisconsin courses are ClearCert approved, so your completion is automatically reported to the ClearCert system.
How do my carriers know I completed training?
You must forward your diploma/certificate to your LTC carriers or agency. Carriers are responsible for tracking agent compliance—the State doesn't do this for them. Make sure to keep a copy for your records too.
I completed LTC training in another state. Does that count for Wisconsin?
If you completed an initial 8-hour NAIC-approved LTC course in another state, you may need to complete a 2-hour Wisconsin Medicaid-specific course to satisfy Wisconsin requirements. The Wisconsin 8-hour course includes this Medicaid training already.
